It’s a well-known fact that our skin needs to be protected from the sun — but many people don’t realize that our hair needs a little help, too.
In September, we tend to get a lot of clients visiting the salon for a post-summer cut. Months of sun-bathing and swimming in chlorine-filled water can dry out, and severely damage, untreated hair.
Like your skin, the sun can actually burn your hair — but you can take a counteractive strike against damaging rays.
We’re big fans of the Kératase brand. They have a great line of products called “Soleil” that’s designed to protect against chlorine build-up and UVA/UVB rays. There’s even a Soleil product with built-in frizz control.
We sell out of this line very quickly during the summer months and vacation season. Our clients and stylists depend on it to keep their hair looking healthy year round.

Thin, fragile hair: Try Aqua Seal. This product seals the hair with a waterproof layer to protect against harmful UV rays and water chemicals like chlorine and salt.
For damaged hair, we recommend Micro-Voile Protecteur. It’s a fast-drying formula that protects against humidity and frizz, while preserving colour.
To protect against exposure, try Crème UV Défense Active. It contains double UV protection that combats wind, chlorinated and salt water and sun exposure.
We’d love to tell you more about how you can protect your hair from the sun. Contact us with your questions any time!
